Adamawa State Family Planning Media Advocacy Forum, has called for the set-up of a structure, which it has coined as Mobile Birth Attendants as part of concerted efforts at enhancing safe motherhood in Nigeria.
Members of the Media forum who stressed this, when on an advocacy campaign to Usaku FM, harped on the need for a holistic approach to healthcare for women of reproductive age.

Just days after marking the World Health day, the safe motherhood day is also marked, and the forum says far reaching decisions are needed
Advocacy member, Clement Ekong, notes that part of the efforts at checkmating the issues hampering safe motherhood, is to work towards responsible child bearing decisions amid a population explosion.
He suggests that governments should introduce what he calls Mobile Birth attendants, as statistics show that birth attendants, cater to about 60 percent of births in Nigeria.
Austin Ajayi, the Vice Chair of the forum in Adamawa, maintains that Family planning is one of the 5 thematic areas of safe motherhood focus for 2025, he maintains that this key area is as important as accessibility to healthcare.
Ojoma Yusuf, is also a member of the media advocacy in Adamawa, for her, a holistic approach is to deal with poverty which is a key trigger for early marriage.
She also calls for better accessibility to Primary health care centers, particularly in difficult and hard to reach terrains in the localities, if all women are to access the services.
Other thematic areas include parental care, home support, emergency care and Birth Attendants, for the Adamawa Family Planning Media Advocacy Forum, Safe motherhood is achievable, with broad-based approach.

Thank you for this engagement, people need to know first that nearly 60 percent of births in Nigeria are handled by birth attendants. Then the discussion can shift to how to improve the tools and knowledge they work with, while also scaling up the service delivery for those already using trained service providers. So far, Communities are embracing the various programmes at the Primary Health care centers which are scattered across the localities. This is where the message must get to at all times
